Tutte le aste / Altro / French School (XX) - Portrait de femme
French School circa 1940-1950 – Portrait of a Woman – Painting on a reversible panel Oil on panel depicting a seated woman, created around the 1940s. The main composition shows a woman in a contemplative pose, seated in an interior. The painting stands out for its free and expressive brushwork, a palette of somber tones sharpened by intense blues, and a highly painterly treatment of the forms and the face. The reverse of the panel is also fully painted and presents a second portrait of a seated woman, treated in a darker range and in a more intimate style. The presence of two finished compositions on the same panel gives this painting a particular interest, both as a period work and as a decorative object. Technique: painting on panel Era: c. 1940-1950 School: French or European, 20th century Signature: unsigned Panel dimensions: 60 × 52 cm Overall dimensions with frame: 72 × 65 × 3 cm Old gilded frame. Condition: aged with signs of use, small marks and wear compatible with the age of the work.
