Franse Rococo schilderijlijst – rijkelijk geornamenteerd – ca

A particularly elegant French picture frame in the Rococo / Louis XV style, dating from around 1900. This finely proportioned frame is characterized by an unmistakably rich ornamentation, with floral motifs, foliage, volutes and graceful scroll ornaments. Especially the four corners are unusually beautifully worked and together with the central ornaments at the top and bottom form a harmonious and strongly decorative whole. The design clearly nods to the French Louis XV and Rococo tradition, but the execution is characteristic of the revival of these styles at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The frame is built around a wooden profile on which richly worked decorative ornamentation is applied, with a gilded finish. The warm gold tones are accentuated by darker nuances in the deeper-set ornaments, making the relief come out particularly beautifully. A striking detail is the deep red Bordeaux inner edge, which forms a subtle yet rich contrast with the gilded outer frame and gives the whole an elegant, luxurious appearance. The gilding displays a lovely natural aged patina, with small color variations, dark accents and light signs of use. These traces contribute to the authentic character of the object and enhance the frame's appearance. On the back there is an atelier/trade label with the inscription “Maison Lartigue – Encadrements d'Art – Fait main en France – Depuis 1902”. The label is presented as part of the object; the dating of the frame is primarily based on style, construction and workmanship. The frame has external dimensions of approximately 59 × 48 cm and internal dimensions of approximately 41.5 × 31 cm. The weight is about 2 kg. Condition The frame is in good antique/vintage condition, considering its age. There are small signs of aging and use, as well as natural variations in the gilding and patina. These are visible in the photos and are part of the character of the object. A very decorative French frame with a pronounced Belle Époque vibe, suitable for presenting a painting, print or mirror, but also particularly attractive as a standalone decorative object
