Francis Bacon - Gordon House/Wolfensberger - Bacon Grand...

This spectacular original 1972 exhibition poster was created for the great Francis Bacon retrospective at the Grand Palais in Paris, an institution known for hosting only the most famed figures of modern art. Bacon, whose raw intensity and uncompromising vision redefined 20th-century figurative painting, was the second living artist, after Picasso, to receive such an honor. The poster features Bacon's disturbing and visceral painting La Corrida, created with his unmistakable visual language of distorted bodies, existential struggle and psychological intensity. The image captures a moment of violent tension in an ambiguous setting, where energy, flesh and abstraction swirl together, all with Bacon's characteristic use of rich color fields, in this case a scorching burnt orange. The lower part of the poster is austere and modern, with the word "Bacon" printed in bold in a thick black type, followed by the exhibition details: Grand Palais 27 October - 10 January 1972. It notes that the exhibition was open every day (except Tuesdays), inviting the public to delve into the world of one of the most challenging and provocative postwar artists. This poster, now a rare collector's piece, not only commemorates a historic exhibition but is also a terrifyingly beautiful artifact of Bacon's tormented yet brilliant genius. A striking piece for lovers of modern art, expressionism, and the dark poetry of human vulnerability. Exhibition - La Corrida - Spain Gordon House Switzerland. Added 1971 issue with the works of the exhibition and an interview with the author. Le Petit Journal 1971. Certified shipping and good packaging.
