Refined antique oval carved wooden frame, dating from the 19th century (the 1800s), of Italian manufacture. The piece is made with the ancient technique of mecca gilding on silver leaf: the silver leaf applied on bole ground is coated with the 'mecca' varnish, which gives it a warm and characteristic golden tone with bright and deep reliefs. Engraved details and Style Perimeter profile: Outer edge richly carved with a continuous motif of beading/stylized ovals. Central band: Decorated at the four cardinal points (top, base, and sides) with elaborate reliefs of floral motifs and festoons applied and carved. Inner edge: Finished with a delicate beaded profile (diamond/pierce-like points) that frames the central space. This frame is ideal for accommodating antique paintings, miniatures, or looking-glasses, as well as serving as a standalone decorative element of great charm and historical value.
