FRAGMENT OF THE KISWAH FOR THE HOLY KA‘BA, SAUDI ARABIA, 20TH CENTURY This rectangular fragment of the Kiswah is embroidered with gilt and silver metallic threads on a black silk background. The panel features a cartouche in the center bearing an inscription in elegant Thuluth script, surrounded by finely executed arabesque and floral scroll motifs. INSCRIPTIONS: “Indeed, We have granted you a resounding victory. ” Quran, Surah Al-Fath (48:1). DIMENSIONS: 71 × 93 cm
