Fr. 107. 1880 $10 Legal Tender Note. PCGS Banknote Gem Uncirculated 66 PPQ. Representative of one of almost a dozen signature combinations to be used for this long-lived design first introduced under the Series of 1869, bidders have here an opportunity to consider for themselves a premium example of this iconic design. Here familiar elements such as the portrait of Daniel Webster seen at left opposite a scene variously entitled Introduction of the Old World to the New or Pocahontas Presented at Court, this example offers a tantalizing glimpse into how this design remained largely unchanged from the time it was introduced while also showcasing the small changes made across a litany of signature combinations. Yet these small changes are demonstrated here in a way utterly unmatched by any circulated example as this piece is unequivocally a fortunate survivor that never met the harsh realities of commerce and repeated uses in circulation before being saved. PCGS Banknote Pop 4/None Finer. Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
