Four-armed Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig) - Bronze

A beautiful, heavy, high-quality handmade fire-gilded bronze statue of the four-armed Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion. The statue is masterfully executed in the traditional Sino-Tibetan style. The deity is elegantly seated in the serene dhyanasana (lotus position) on a double-layered lotus pedestal. The primary hands are folded at the heart in anjali mudra (gesture of prayer). The object is in excellent, undamaged historical condition with a splendid, authentic patina of age. The serene face shows skilled cold-gold painting and the hair knot (jatamukuta) contains the traditional ritual blue pigments. The underside is traditionally hollow and open, allowing the authentic casting marks and the thickness of the bronze alloy to be beautifully visible.
