Fossilized Ammonite Shell (Cleoniceras) - Polished...

Cretaceous Fossil with vivid natural iridescence — This magnificently preserved fossil specimen of an ammonite, identified as Cleoniceras, represents an exceptional opportunity for collectors. The fossilization has retained intact the complex spiral morphology of the cephalopod, offering a detailed view of its internal structure, typical of nautiloids and ammonoids. The surface, skillfully polished, reveals a surprising natural iridescence, with color reflections ranging from golden bronze to green and occasional reddish tones. These optical phenomena are the result of light refraction through the aragonite layers of the nacreous shell and are indicative of optimal fossilization conditions that preserved the original microstructure of the shell. Originating from the famous Madagascar deposits, this fossil can be dated to the Cretaceous period (about 110–120 million years ago), a crucial geologic era for the evolution of these marine creatures. The Malagasy deposits are world-renowned for the quality and beauty of the ammonites they produce, often characterized by these magnificent iridescences. The specimen is presented in excellent condition, with the umbilical spiral and suture lines well defined. The considerable size and the cleanliness of the piece make it a standout item. The preparation was carried out professionally to maximize the visibility of its most precious features, without altering its structural or aesthetic integrity. This Cleoniceras ammonite is not only a fascinating paleontological find but also an object of great aesthetic impact. Its combination of elegant form, iridescent colors, and historical provenance makes it a museum-quality piece, ideal for enriching any collection of minerals and precious fossils, bearing witness to the rich marine biodiversity of Earth's geological past.
