Fossil Megalodon Tooth – Miocene – Pliocene (approx

A fossil tooth from the gigantic prehistoric shark Otodus megalodon, the largest marine species known to have existed. This tooth measures 120 mm in length and was found along the coast of North Carolina, one of the most renowned places for recovering well-preserved megalodon remains. The surface has been polished, highlighting the venation and the chromatic transitions between root and enamel. The Megalodon lived roughly 23 to 3.6 million years ago, during the Miocene and Pliocene, reaching estimated lengths of up to 20 meters. Its triangular, serrated, and robust teeth were designed to shatter the bones of whales and large cetaceans, which it fed on. These teeth were arranged in five rows and were continually replaced during the animal's life. This tooth features a compact and well-preserved root, with enamel partially intact and areas of mineralization that tell the fossilization process. The polishing brings out the nuances between black, gray, and brownish tones, making it perfect for both museum display and private collections or curios cabinets. Species: Otodus megalodon Geological period: Miocene – Pliocene (approximately 23 – 3.6 million years ago) Origin: North Carolina, USA Size: 120 mm Conservation status: Authentic fossil, polished Category: Paleontology – Fossil teeth – Scientific collecting Ideal for: fossil collectors, paleontology enthusiasts, museum displays, naturalist-themed interiors.
