Flos - Erwan Bouroullec - Wall lamp - MAAP W1 - Paper, Metal

The Maap wall lamp by Flos stands out for its striking presence and its ability to transform the wall surface into a luminous field. The project stems from the desire to offer a wide, diffused light source capable of enveloping the environment with a soft, even glow. Maap's structure consists of a luminous element equipped with multiple LED sources, supported by a cross-shaped support that acts as a magnetic anchor for the diffusing cover. The latter, manually shapeable, suggests an organic and mutable surface, in which each installation assumes a unique configuration. The fastening system through magnetic elements allows the diffuser’s shape to be reshaped, introducing a dimension of direct, personal interaction with the object. The lamp lends itself to different visual interpretations, evoking landscapes, maps, or enlarged cellular structures. The Maap project approach favors lightness and formal freedom, inviting exploration of the relationship between light, matter, and space. The installation suggests use scenarios in which the wall becomes the protagonist, hosting a light source that adapts to the context and the needs of the environment. The presence of the wall lamp translates into an immersive visual effect, capable of accompanying both domestic spaces and communal environments with a diffused and enveloping light.
