Superb lot of 4 Napoleonic Soldiers + Napoleon Bonaparte in tin, signed Etain du Prince by Bachet This lot is composed of 3 banner-bearers - 1 Imperial Guard Sailor with standard bearer from 1804 to 1813 - 1 Imperial Guard of the 2nd Regiment of Light Cavalry, Lancers with its flag - 1 Guard of Honor of the Senate and their flag from 1805 to 1808 - The Marshal Massena, Duke of Rivoli, 1758-1817 and Napoleon Bonaparte bearing his flag at the Pont d’Arcole on 15 November 1796 This lot is in good condition with no breakages or losses Total weight 816 g Nestled in the heart of the volcanos of Auvergne, Les Etains du Prince has its headquarters in Ambert. In this sub-prefecture of 8,000 inhabitants, formerly capital of the rosary, nothing predicted that this modest family business would become the leader of tin figurines. Created in 1970 by René and Maryvonne Bachet, this company initially marketed religious figurines. Very quickly, it oriented its production tools toward decorative gifts, framed figurines or statuettes. Les Etains du Prince quickly became known through two ranges: The first is that of romantic tableaux (landscapes, young women, children, motherhoods ...). By its breadth and variety, this collection appeals to all publics, whether as a “crush gift” or for various celebrations. The second is that of figurines. In 1975, helped by a renowned historian, Mr. Bachet had the idea to develop an entire collection inspired by the Napoleonic epoch with more than 200 figurines tracing the First Empire through marshals, cavalry, soldiers, cannons ... Female customers were not forgotten, since in 1985 a range of figurines (ladies of the 1900s) illustrating the Belle Epoque (Frou-Frou collection) was added. In 1990, Les Etains du Prince paid homage to Firefighters by reproducing their numerous activities, fires, rescues, evacuations ... Les Etains du Prince celebrate the XXIst century in their own way with a new collection: the Legend of the Ages. From Vercingetorix to Armstrong, including Mozart, Victor Hugo, Van Gogh ... no discipline is forgotten across these 18 notable personalities of our era. The company, today led by Christian Bachet, employs about twenty people (manufacturing and sales). Designing a new subject requires a lot of research and documentation. Then a model maker crafts a piece in modelling clay. After numerous highly technical steps, the model will allow the creation of a rubber mold. This mold will receive molten tin in a centrifuge. The product must still undergo many touches (manual sanding, blasting, exposure to chemical baths, drying then turning) before acquiring the patina characteristic of Les Etains du Prince. Depending on its destination, the subject is then glued onto fabric and framed with a wooden frame or fixed on various bases (wood, resin, tin, etc.). A European standard imposes a minimum tin content. Our creations far exceed it (> 95%). Each subject is signed Les Etains du Prince.
