First American Edition acquired as a decommissioned university library book, and restored. The spine had been guillotined and the book presumably digitized (based on an insert at page 193), after which it was rebound (albeit very solidly) in very thick waterproof library buckram with plain white titling (see photo). The durable rebinding did not need any interference, but I removed the buckram, repaired the map and inserts then inserted them in their proper positions. I erased as many library stamps as possible and re-cased the whole in decorative paper with paper labels. Despite everything the book has endured, it is an original First. See all photos.
