Illustration de Trimollet, Daubigny, Meissonnier. La première édition chez Delloye ne contenanit que 84 livraisons et chansons. Impression sur velin fort. Reliure en demi maroquin vert. Dos à nerfs ornés - Quelques rousseurs éparses. 39 chansons au tome 1, 32 pour le tome 2, 54 pour le tome 3, soit 125 livraisons et chansons, réparties en chants guerriers et patriotiques, chansons burlesques satiriques et complaintes et rondeaux. Un des plus beaux illustrés romantiques, la matière en est abondante et foisonnante, pleine d'imagination et de verve. Ce volume est surtout l'une des principales oeuvres de Trimolet comme illustrateur, dont Baudelaire dresse particulièrement l'éloge dans ses Curiosités esthétiques, au chapitre des Caricaturistes. Carteret compare cette production aux meilleurs illustrés du XVIIIe.
