The brooch presented here takes us to the era of Giacomo Casanova. The adventurous stories, peppered with tales of the Venetian's many loves, are still fundamental to our understanding of the 18th century and are considered a treasure trove of descriptions of everyday life in the high society of the Rococo. In the brooch here, created some 200 years later, in the 1960s, we see centrally a lady dressed entirely in the taste of the Rococo. A sweeping dress and a fan as a sign of her distinguished background are as important accessories as her powdered wig. She is in an idyllic park landscape and we think of the palace gardens of the Rococo. The round painting on porcelain was probably created in the years around 1870 in one of the Thuringian porcelain manufactories, which were known for the fine quality of their paintings beyond the borders of Germany - and whose products are now largely lost due to the wars. The already antique plate was provided with a radiating wreath-like setting made of white gold and thus completely corresponds to the contemporary taste of the 1960s. A total of twenty-four brilliant cut diamonds with a total weight of over one carat add their white sparkle to the piece of jewellery. With lightness and wit, the brooch thus combines different eras into a successful new one. A small brooch made of exquisite materials that can make the inclined viewer smile.
