Tutte le aste / Altro / Federico Moja (1802-1885), Attrib. - Veduta della piazza di Oderzo

Federico Moja 1802-1885. Oil on canvas of large format 90 cm by 68 cm in a gilded frame (complimentary) dated 1852, in full maturity of the painter and signed bottom left. The artwork shown in the image is an oil painting on canvas titled The Square and the Torre dei Pretori in Oderzo, attributed to the famous Italian vedutist painter Federico Moja (1802 - 1885). The painting offers a precious historical testimony of Piazza Grande (historically also known as Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II) located in Oderzo, in the province of Treviso. The view faithfully captures the urban layout and the key buildings of Opitergine civic life in the 19th century: • The Torresin (on the left): Historically also known as Torre dei Pretori or Torre dell'Orologio, this structure originally served as the southern gate of the ancient medieval walls. During Venetian rule it became the residence of the podestà. The building visible in the painting reflects the historical appearance prior to the total rebuilding in architectural style that occurred in the 1930s. Center: The Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista (in the center): The imposing sacred building of medieval foundation that dominates the square's backdrop with its characteristic Gothic-Renaissance lines. • The Campanile (on the right): The tall bell tower that rises against the sky, a vertical element characteristic of the city skyline. Splendid large-format work by a very important painter of the 19th century. Shipment only within Europe, not the UK. Professional packaging given the quality of the artwork in question. Certificate of provenance and attribution attached to the painting.
