A pair of two beautiful tins from the Art Deco period. 1. A beautiful coffee tin / tea tin (stock tin): the tin was intended for coffee or tea. The tin is from the Firma P. Broekema in Groningen. The tin is marked on the bottom with the name of the company. The tin is decorated with classical Dutch masterpieces by Pieter de Hoogh (1629-1684), in gold-colored frames. This kind of nostalgic, traditional art motifs on tin packaging was immensely popular in the 1930s. Pieter de Hoogh is the famous Dutch artist from the Golden Age. Together with Johannes Vermeer he belonged to the absolute top of the Delft School. Dimensions: 21 x 18 x 13 cm (l x w x h). The tin is in good condition. It has light wear, which is in keeping with the age of this tin. 2. A beautiful biscuit tin: this biscuit tin was released at the time by the well-known Frisian biscuit manufacturer Turkstra. On the tin is depicted the leaning tower 'De Oldehove' in Leeuwarden, a direct reference to the factory’s location. On the top of the lid sits the recognizable logo of the brand: a little baker figure carrying a biscuit over his head Dimensions: 10.5 x 10.5 x 21.5 cm (l x w x h). The tin is in good condition. It has light wear, which is in keeping with the age of this tin. The tins are carefully packed and insured shipped.
