Exquisite Belle Époque Style Necklace with Diamonds & Natural Pearls, c. 2000

This necklace is a dream in shades of white. A large, square pendant is mounted on a delicate chain of natural pearls. Sparkling diamonds are set in rhodium-plated gold. Delicate bars form circles and lines, connecting the sparkling points of light: The design is large, but at the same time delicate, translucent and airy. Another, larger natural pearl is suspended from the bottom of the design. The pendant pays homage to the jewellery of the Belle Époque shortly after 1900 in terms of its colouring, but also its delicacy and lightness. One of the most popular design ideas of this time were large frames called "plaques", usually round, but sometimes also angular, which were filled with the finest bars and geometric shapes. At first glance, the necklace appears to be a typical example of this period – but few details reveal that it was created around a century later. The modern cuts of the diamonds in particular, with their magnificent fire, show that the jewellery could only have been created in the last few decades. The shapes thus experience a new lease of life and once again promise elegance and beauty. Its shape and fine workmanship are just as timeless as they were over a century ago.
