Exciting Vintage White Gold Ring With Ruby & Diamonds, Germany ca. 1975

The present ring sets wonderful gemstones: One natural ruby in rosy red sparkles in the center of the oval ring head. Raised slightly above the ring face by a prong setting, white brilliant cut and baguette cut diamonds frame the precious center stone, staggered at different levels. In total, we see 22 diamonds weighing approximately 1.36 carats combined. Even with a look at jewellery history, this is a meaningful gemstone combination, because in the language of gemstones, the ruby was once considered the stone of love, while the diamond was understood as a symbol of eternity due to its great hardness. This piece of white gold jewellery is a classic entourage ring in an unusual design, as the staggering of the diamonds to different heights creates a ring that combines scupltural qualities and elegance into one piece of jewellery. Entourage (from company, entourage) is the term used to describe rings whose often coloured centre stone is accompanied by diamonds. Already known and popular in past centuries, this ring shape became particularly popular in the second half of the 20th century, when rings such as this one were preferably set in white gold, which, due to its restrained colourfulness, allows the effect of the gemstones to take precedence. Our ring from the 1970s was probably made in Germany and found its way to us from the Rhineland. It comes with a detailed certificate by the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation .
