Exceptional Petrified Wood with Natural Bark –...

Exceptional Petrified Wood with Natural Bark – Beautifully Framed – Neogene – Java, Indonesia An exceptionally beautiful and decorative specimen of natural petrified wood from Java, Indonesia, presented in an elegant wooden display frame that perfectly complements the fossil’s original colours and textures. This remarkable specimen measures approximately 23 cm in length and over 2 cm in thickness, preserving an impressive contrast between its dark, almost black interior and the warm golden-brown, cream and beige tones of its outer bark. The polished surface reveals fascinating internal structures, delicate natural patterns and contrasting mineral formations, while the irregular outer edge retains the appearance and texture of the original tree bark. One of the most attractive features of this specimen is its striking combination of colours and textures. The deep black central area is beautifully surrounded by lighter mineralized zones, creating an almost artistic composition entirely produced by natural geological processes over millions of years. Elegant Wooden Display Frame A Fascinating Piece of Prehistoric Nature Petrified wood forms when ancient wood is buried and gradually mineralized, preserving aspects of its original structure while transforming into stone. Java is particularly well known for its fossil wood deposits, many of which are associated with the Neogene geological period. Fossilized trees from these deposits provide a fascinating glimpse into the ancient tropical forests that once covered the region.
