This devotional bust of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, made by the Olot school during the 20th century in polychrome wood pulp with glass eyes, constitutes a magnificent example of the serial religious production that made the Olot workshops famous for their ability to combine artistic quality, expressiveness, and accessibility. The image presents a half-length Christ, with a frontal and serene composition that seeks to favor contemplation and domestic devotion. The modeling of the face responds to the characteristic Olot standards, with soft and harmonious features, carefully treated beard and a long wavy hair that falls over the shoulders. The crystal eyes provide a notable sense of naturalism and depth, intensifying the presence of the image and giving it a living, close gaze. The polychromy shows delicate flesh tones of warm hues, applied gently to reinforce the sweetness and humanity of the representation. Christ appears dressed in an ivory tunic and a mantle enriched with gold ornamentation in vegetal inspiration, decorative resource that adds visual richness and enhances the sacred character of the piece. On the chest stands out the symbol of the Sacred Heart, represented in relief and polychromed in golden and reddish tones, radiating beams of golden light that emphasize its spiritual meaning as an emblem of love, sacrifice, and redemption. The right hand rises in a gesture of blessing, while the left points to the heart, following the traditional iconography associated with this devotion. The integrated golden base in the composition reinforces its devotional function and provides stability to the whole. The overall finish evidences the technical skill of the Olot workshops, recognized for the refinement of their polychromies, the delicacy of the upholsteries, and the ability of their sculptors to confer spirituality and expressive sweetness to religious images. It is a decorative and devotional work of great appeal, representative of Catalan religious imagery of the 20th century and of the prestige reached by the Olot school in the production of sacred sculpture intended for private worship as well as small chapels and oratories. Certified shipment and good packing.
