There is also an evident influence from 19th-century interior painting, reinterpreted through a freer and more atmospheric execution. Interior scene titled Before the Dance, featuring two elegantly dressed ladies who appear seated on the far left of a spacious salon. Their dresses, in blue and grayish tones, stand out against a room dominated by warm ochre, earth, and gold hues. The interior is carefully constructed through a deep perspective that leads the gaze toward the large central mirror. The room presents abundant decoration: ornate chest of drawers, large vases, paintings, chandelier, rug, period furniture, marble fireplace, and decorative screen. The mirror contributes to visually enlarging the space and adds depth to the composition. The presence of the two figures, apparently immersed in preparations or moments before a social event, gives the scene a narrative and intimate character. The overall mood conveys the refined atmosphere of a bourgeois interior and a certain nostalgic evocation of 19th-century social life.
