The use of intense and non-naturalistic colors, chromatic autonomy from reality, and the simplification of certain forms refer to the principles developed by French Fauvism. There are also resources close to Expressionism, especially in the emotional use of violet, yellow, blue, and orange, as well as a certain experimental freedom in applying materials and textures. The work seems to reflect these influences from a personal and decorative interpretation, rather than a strict attribution to historical Fauvism. Large-format composition featuring a seated cat, represented frontally and slightly turned toward one side. The animal occupies the center-right of the scene and stands out especially for its fur, built with intense tones of orange, yellow, white, and black. The big greenish eyes and the defined treatment of the face concentrate a good portion of the visual attention. The environment is resolved in a free and expressive manner through broad surfaces of violets, blues, grays, and purples. On the left sector, a large diagonal structure crosses the composition and combines yellow, ochre, and purple bands, incorporating areas of pronounced relief and material accumulations. This recurso provides depth and establishes a strong geometric counterpoint to the animal’s figuration. The mixed technique allows for a combination of visible brushstrokes, impastos, and textured applications, creating a heterogeneous surface of notable material character. The contrast between the recognizable representation of the cat and the partial abstraction of the surrounding space reinforces the modern and expressive nature of the piece.
