Eredi Mazzetti - Sculpture, L'arrotino - 22.5 cm - .800 silver

A notable Milanese-made sculpture, attributed to Mazzetti, depicting an itinerant sharpener busy sharpening a tool on the traditional grinding wheel. The work stands out for its rich detailing, the expressiveness of the figure, and the accurate reproduction of the working machinery, with its frame, wheels and finely rendered mechanisms. The composition features parts in 800 silver (stamped), with burnished finishes and gold-toned details that adorn the hat, clothing, and footwear. The figure and the grinding wheel are detachable and rest on a suggestive oval base in natural agate, characterized by crystalline hues and a dark rim. A refined decorative and collectible object that celebrates the ancient Italian artisanal trades.
