Enotrio Pugliese (1920-1989) - Paesaggio Calabrese

Work by Enotrio Pugliese. Born in Buenos Aires in 1920 to Calabrian parents, he moved to Italy at a very young age. Known in the art world simply as Enotrio, he began to exhibit successfully in the immediate post-war period. Although living and working in Rome, the heart of his production remains tied to the South and, in particular, to Calabria, a land he paints in a visceral way. The painting represents one of the most iconic and sought-after subjects in Enotrio's artistic production: the perched Calabrian village, a fundamental constant in his artistic inquiry. The work depicts a dense interpenetration of houses with clean geometries and red-tiled roofs, clinging to a rocky promontory that dominates the composition. Dimensions of the work: 60 x 70 Dimensions of the framed piece: 75 x 85
