| ÉMILE GALLÉ “Art Nouveau Vase with Alder Catkins Design” Nancy, ca. 1900. Spherical, frosted glass with an amber-colored and greenish underglaze, overglazed multiple times in brown and black-green. A finely etched, finely cut decoration encircling the vase, featuring hanging alder catkins and a delicate leaf pattern against a warm, honey-yellow-amber background. A Japanese-style relief signature, “Gallé,” is etched high on the side of the body. Spherical form with a slightly indented, cylindrical neck and a flared rim. The expressive relief decoration features filigree-like, botanically precise depictions of alder catkins and branches against an atmospheric, translucent background. A masterful work from the heyday of the Établissements Gallé. H: 14 cm. Good overall condition. The rim of the mouth was damaged in the past and has been expertly covered/restored with a later silver mounting. SHIPPING TO THE USA MUST BE ARRANGED BY THE BUYER.
