Tutte le aste / Altro / Eliseo Meofren (1859-1940) Atribuido - Escena Romántica
Title: Romantic scene in a park School: Spanish, late 19th - early 20th century Author: Eliseo Meifrén y Roig (1857-1940), attributed Style: Impasto luminist landscape / luminism Technique: Oil on canvas adhered to board Condition: Presents restorations. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: Work attributed to Eliseo Meifrén, linked to Catalan landscape painting of transition between realism, luminism and the Impressionist currents of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The composition shows a special interest in atmospheric and luminous effects, with relatively free brushwork and a palette of greens, ochres, grays and blues. By its formal characteristics, it can be related to the circle of Catalan landscape painters of the period and to the renewal of en plein air painting, with evident influences of European Impressionism in the treatment of light and vegetation. ㅤ About the author: Eliseo Meifrén y Roig (1857-1940) was a prominent Spanish painter linked to Catalan landscape painting. He developed a practice particularly focused on capturing light, atmosphere, and chromatic variations of the landscape, evolving from realist approaches toward a freer technique closer to Impressionism. His output includes numerous landscapes, urban views, coastal scenes, and gardens. Landscape scene set in an elegant park or monumental garden. In the foreground there is a broad open area, resolved with light tonalities and soft brushstrokes. In the background rises an ornate balustrade with classical sculptures on pedestals, partially surrounded by lush vegetation. ㅤ Trees constitute one of the main elements of the composition. Their vertical trunks and lightly executed canopies structure the space and allow a blueish, atmospheric background to be glimpsed. The loose brushwork and the application of small touches of color suggest the incidence of light on the leaves and the different depths of the garden. ㅤ The presence of the sculptures, the balustrade, and the vegetation gives the scene an evocative and romantic character, while the absence of an explicit narrative concentrates interest on the atmosphere, luminosity, and serenity of the surroundings. The work is presented with a wooden frame in brown tone, with a wide profile and sober lines, the corners mitered. It incorporates a fine inner gilded molding that delineates the painting and provides contrast with the wood. The frame shows signs of use and age consistent with the overall piece. ㅤ Observations: The attribution to Eliseo Meifrén remains in line with the information provided and does not constitute a certification of authorship. The work shows restorations, a circumstance in keeping with its antiquity. ㅤ The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such cases, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority. ㅤ Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by surcharges due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions, or weight of the item.
