Elio Lazzari (1942) - Veduta lagunare

Elio Lazzari (Venice, 1942) is one of the most well-known contemporary Venetian painters, appreciated for his suggestive views of the lagoon and of everyday Venetian life. Defined by critics as «one of the last great Venetian vedutisti», he has exhibited in important Italian and international venues, including New York, Washington and Luxembourg. His works are present in numerous private collections and represent an authentic testimony of the Venetian painting tradition. Refined view of the Venetian lagoon realized by Elio Lazzari, an artist known for his luminous and evocative interpretations of Venice and its islands. The composition unfolds through a delicate balance of light, water and sky, in a scene dominated by soft tones and by an extraordinary sense of calm. In the foreground a small stranded boat and a simple dock introduce the gaze toward the lagoon horizon, where the architectures emerge barely between atmosphere and reflections. With few essential marks and an extremely delicate palette, Lazzari manages to evoke all the poetry of the most authentic Venetian landscapes. The work effectively represents the artist's artistic research, particularly appreciated for the ability to transform everyday glimpses of the lagoon into timeless images, characterized by great color sensitivity and strong compositional balance.
