Frances Elegant Ladies’ Secretary / Bonheur du Jour with Bloominlay work & Bronze fittings – 19th Century Description A particularly elegant and fine French ladies’ secretary (bonheur du jour) in stylish Louis XV styling. This stylish writing desk rests on slender, patinated, curved cabriole legs and is finished with refined floral inlay (marquetry) on the slanted lid. The lid features an authentic brass key escutcheon and a working key. Inside, the piece reveals a thoughtful and intimate interior: a fold-out work surface inlaid with patinated writing leather, two small drawers with gold-colored knobs, and an extra storage compartment beneath the writing plate. On top, there is a raised brass gallery (ajour edge). The piece is richly decorated all around with gilded bronze fittings on the shoulders and feet of the legs. Thanks to its compact dimensions and slim proportions, this secretary fits perfectly in both a classic and a modern interior.
