Elegant Negligé Necklace with Diamonds in Platinum on Gold, c. 1910

In the early 20th century, a new form of necklace quickly conquered Europe. Younger women in particular, who kept up with the more avant-garde changes in fashion, liked to adorn themselves with them: We are talking about the so-called negligé necklace. Two pendulums of different lengths are attached to a decorative element and form the showpiece of the necklace. This piece is a beautiful example of this fashion. An arch-shaped element forms the starting point of the design. It holds two small diamond roses. Two pendulums, slightly different in length, are attached to it. They terminate in simple frames, each holding a beautiful old-cut diamond. The decorative elements of the necklace are made of yellow gold and have a platinum display side. This was the usual technique at the beginning of the 20th century for creating jewels that shone in pure white. We discovered this beautifully preserved necklace in southern Germany. It was made in Germany.
