Elastolin - Figure - Seltene Original Elastolin / Lineol...

Rare original Elastolin / Lineol - German Music Corps - WWII among others (see pictures) 18 x soldiers / rare figures Elastolin: Mass figures were already produced around 1880 in Austria by the Vienna-based company Emil Pfeiffer, which became world-famous for the “loving and colorful painting” of its figures. Around 1900 production started in Germany. As with tin figures, it covered an enormous range of themes, but primarily consisted of war toys. Accessories such as vehicles were usually made of sheet metal, occasionally there were mixed forms, for example sheet-metal carriages with crews and horses made of mass moulding. Since other producers mostly adhered to Hausser’s size standards, the products were often intercompatible. As many manufacturers did not specialize solely in war toys, but also depicted organizations and leadership personnel of the NS regime in their figures, after World War II a revival of production in all occupation zones of Germany was difficult. Lineol until 1945 Lineol AG was founded in 1906 by Oskar Wilhelm Wiederholz in Brandenburg an der Havel. As early as 1903 he developed the mass needed for it, which, in contrast to the mass of competitor Elastolin, contains linseed oil and resin. Co-responsible for Lineol’s success was the Berlin artist Albert Caasmann, who from 1909 designed the molds for the figures in wax. He became chief modeler under Wiederholz in 1919 and was head of figure production until 1952. In the 1930s Lineol AG employed 300 to 400 workers. A high level of detailing of the figures was responsible for the quick success of the figures. The animals of the Berlin Zoo served as models for the wild animals. Two famous examples from the animal figure production are the hippopotamus Knautschke and the gorilla “Bobby,” which Albert Caasmann immortalized in miniature. In addition to the mass figures, Lineol produced high-quality tin toys. The figures were available in different scales/sizes (from 17 cm to 4 cm), with the figure size of 7.5 cm eventually becoming established over the years. Lineol mass figures are distinguished from Hausser’s (Elastolin) figures by a rectangular base. Very beautiful collection of detailed figures. A must for every collector.
