EGYPTIAN GLAZED STEATITE SCARAB ENGRAVED WITH A HARE AND ANKH IN SILVER RING

Middle Kingdom to New Kingdom, ca. 2055 - 1069 BC. A blue glazed steatite scarab with a convex back divided by incised lines and carved legs along the sides. The flat underside is engraved with a recumbent hare facing left, its forelegs extended, with an ankh sign before its head, all enclosed within an oval border. The scarab is mounted on a transverse swivel pin between the terminals of a possibly later silver ring with a rounded hoop.
