Edgar BRANDT (1880–1960) & Georges BASTARD (1881–1939) *Illuminated chrome-plated metal aquarium vase with side sockets, featuring two tubular ivory elements encasing a removable circular receptacle made of blown white glass, rimmed with chrome-plated metal at the top. Bakelite ring and vintage hand switch Signed with both names in engraving on the frame H. 27 cm - W. 27.5 cm - D. 13 cm (Small chip on the reverse, cracks and stains on the ivory, minor chip on the neck) Provenance: - Me Aguttes auction, Neuilly, August 9, 2012, lot 319; private collection, Paris - Artcurial auction, Paris, November 26, 2019, lot 80; private collection, Paris? History: For the ocean liner Normandie, the two artists collaborated to create a chrome-plated metal vase available in two different sizes, adorned with the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique logo. The various versions were displayed in the Galerie Hall and the first-class cabins. Our aquarium lamp is the second known collaboration between these two giants of Art Deco, where Brandt’s power combines with Bastard’s finesse. CIC dated August 10, 2026
