In Sunday Blue, the artist captures a moment of everyday serenity through a female figure, seated beside the sea and absorbed in reading, who seems to inhabit a time outside the worlds pace. The elegance of her posture, the slightly tilted face, and the hat with its strongly geometric silhouette build an image of refined stillness, where the pleasure of reading meets the immensity of the marine landscape. The scene evokes the calm of a Sunday afternoon, that space of personal freedom in which small rituals take on an extraordinary dimension. The composition is articulated through an elaborate balance between angular planes and organic shapes. The figure almost occupies the entire painted surface, becoming the axis of a structure where the hat, the folds of the dress, and the arrangement of the arms establish a visually dynamic rhythm. The open book introduces a point of chromatic and narrative tension, while the horizontal line of the sea and the softly outlined clouds add depth and stability. The fragmentation of forms allows the figure and the surroundings to coexist within a single visual architecture, without losing the naturalness of the moment depicted. The treatment of color is one of the works most distinctive elements. A wide range of blues, from intense cobalt to brighter turquoise and light sky blues, dominates the composition and sets a fresh, enveloping atmosphere. The nuanced whites of the dress contribute luminosity, while reddish accents of the book and the warm orange tones of the armchair create contrasts that enrich the color balance. The brushwork combines carefully delineated color surfaces with freer, visible strokes, especially in the seascape and the broad textile planes, adding texture and a subtle vibrancy to the pictorial material. From her distinctive interpretation of contemporary cubism, the artist transforms a seemingly simple scene into an exploration of form, space, and perception. The geometrization of the body and everyday elements does not respond to a will toward absolute abstraction, but to a search for expressive synthesis in which each color plane contributes to building its own reality. Perspectives are reorganized, volumes simplified, and the female figure acquires an almost sculptural presence, while maintaining a delicate narrative sensibility. Sunday Blue is a celebration of pause, contemplation, and the pleasure of inhabiting the present. A work where the Mediterranean landscape, feminine elegance, and contemporary cubist language converge to transform a moment of reading into a visually evocative experience. The blue stops being merely a chromatic resource and becomes a sensation of calm, freedom, and harmony, inviting the viewer to pause and enjoy the beauty of everyday life.
