[DU LAURENS (the abbot)]. New Year’s Gifts to the Clergy, or The Candle of Arras. A heroic-comic poem in 18 cantos. Arras, Published by the Chapter, 1766. In-12, lemon-colored morocco leather, small floral lace with fine metalwork, smooth spine with decoration, olive and red title labels, interior roulette, gilt edges (contemporary binding). A licentious and anti-religious poem that notably features mischievous eyes, seductive bodices, and short petticoats. (Dictionary of Erotic Works, pp. 94–95). The following work was bound together with it: *Le Parnasse libertin, ou Recueil de poésies libres*. Amsterdam, Cazals & Ferrand, 1772. Edition cited by Pia, p. 570. Leaf I8, corresponding to pp. 107–108, is missing. Charming lemon-colored morocco leather binding with lace trim. Label of the printer-bookseller Bocquet in Arras. Engraved coat-of-arms bookplate with the motto “Je my oblige.”
