Tutte le aste / Altro / Dino Lanaro (XX) - Porto con barche e lampioni
Splendid oil on panel executed in 1972 by the celebrated master Dino Lanaro, entitled "Porto con barche e lampioni". The work measures 36.5 x 48.5 cm (net size) and is presented within a contemporaneous frame that brings the overall dimensions to 48.5 x 57.5 cm. The painting depicts an fascinating port-scene dominated by sailing boats with iconic warm and golden sails, in a harmonious chromatic dialogue with the structure of the pier and the characteristic lamp-post. Lanaro's stylistic signature emerges with extraordinary force in this mature work: a rich and vigorous matter-based application, using the spatula and a substantial brushstroke to give texture, thickness, and movement to the scene. The warm tones of ocher, brick red, and brown blend with skilfully calibrated shades, creating a suspended, intimate, and highly impactful atmosphere. A museum-worthy artwork of very high value, ideal for refined collectors and lovers of great Italian painting of the twentieth century. Conservation conditions Work: In good conservation condition, colors vivid and the painting application intact. Signed and dated by the artist on the front. Biographical notes about the Artist Dino Lanaro (Schio, 1909 – Milan, 1998) was one of the most authoritative, rigorous, and coherent figures of Italian painting in the twentieth century. Having begun art at a very young age through chromatic drawing and lithography, he debuted in the 1920s and moved to Milan in 1937. Here he came into close contact with young intellectuals and artists who, in 1939, would give life to the famous Movement of "Corrente", participating in the group’s historic exhibitions at the Via della Spiga gallery under the aegis of Renato Birolli. His exhibition and institutional career is outstanding: he participated in numerous editions of the Venice Biennale (1948, 1950, 1956) and the Rome Quadriennale (from 1948 to 1965), as well as the Alexandria Biennale in Egypt. He received important national recognitions, including the Bellagio Prize, the Gallarate Prize, and the prestigious City of Lugano Prize in 1961. Alongside painting, he carried out an intense and fundamental academic activity: from 1950 to 1979 he held the Chair of Painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. His works are preserved in important museums and public collections, such as the Art Collections of the Cariplo Foundation and the Gallarate Art Museum.
