DENMARK. Penny, ND (1075-80). Lund Mint. Harald III Hén. NGC AU-58.

Highly Attractive and Excessively Rare DENMARK. Penny, ND (1075-80). Lund Mint. Harald III Hén. NGC AU-58. Hauberg-2; Not in Hauberg Collection; Poulsen-SK1.1b; Bruun-1996. Weight: 1.04 gms. Moneyer: Nun (?). Boldly struck, attractively toned and lustrous. This interesting type features the figure turned to his right, holding a cross-staff instead of a crook. Although this emission is recorded from the workshops of 14 different moneyers, it remains excessively rare, with only a very few specimens in private hands. An intriguing obverse variety that stands out markedly from Harald's other Lund emissions due to its partially blundered legend and distinctive depiction of the figure. Estimate: €4,000 - €5,000. Provenance: From the L.E. Bruun Collection. To view supplemental information and all items from the L.E. Bruun Collection, click here. Please note: Bid amounts do not include VAT. Buyers which are non-VAT registered entities or individuals who take delivery of lots within EU countries subject to margin scheme taxation will be invoiced a VAT charge and a Buyer’s Premium for a total of 27.5% based upon the total amount of the hammer.
