Set of 14 letters, correspondence cards and signed autograph business cards from arts, letters, and Académie française personalities. The collection covers the 20th century (1903 to 1984). Written in ink on various supports (slips, business cards, correspondence cards, postcard), the vast majority with printed letterheads. In these correspondences, mostly addressed to poets Guy d'Arcangues and Pierre d'Arcangues (as well as to Ludovic d'Ornano), the authors speak of deep friendships, share their critiques of literary works, or send their warm thanks and best wishes. 1. Mylène Demongeot (January 21, 1984) To Guy d'Arcangues. Reflects on their friendship, Jours de France, and her husband Marc Simenon. "... P.S. Marc has been captivated by you, and believe me, that is rare!" 2. Abel Bonnard (No date) "A thousand wishes, dear Friend, to answer yours and to save at least the idea of happiness!" 3. Jean Cayrol "Thank you very much indeed, dear friend, for these ‘reliquiae’. Sorrow blends with your affection. Your words brighten a black sky. May 1981 be beneficial to you! with all friendship." 4. Edmée, Duchess of La Rochefoucauld (January 29, 1953) To Pierre d'Arcangues. Reflects on an evening and Pascal-Bonetti. "29/1/53 Dear Pierre, you add flowers to the fruits of your mind; thank you for thinking of me, I can only repeat the pleasant impression I keep from the evening of '[?]'. You should send your book as a tribute to Pascal-Bonetti, president of the French poets, 54 bis rue Michel Ange, I lent him my copy... When will you come for lunch? Affectionately yours." 5. Auguste de La Force / Duke of La Force (March 14, 1954) "Saint-Aubin Fresnay-sur-Sarthe Very grateful for the gracious 'poem' you sent him, please accept the expression of his warm thanks. March 14, 1954" 6. Pierre d'Arcangues (December 31, 1903) To Ludovic d'Ornano. Postcard from Château d'Arcangues. "Old lazybones, despite all the horror your laziness should inspire me to write, dear Ludo, I cannot help but wish you a good and happy year. I especially hope that 1904 brings us closer and that the new year ends not before we have seen each other again." 7. Guy Béart (March 13, 1967) To Guy d'Arcangues. "Thank you, dear Guy, for this marvelous horse and bravo, from the bottom of my heart, to the poet of Arcangues! See you soon, love from me. March 13, 1967" 8. Lycette Darsonval (No date) "Dear Sir, I send you my warmest wishes for you and your dear family and hope to see you soon in Paris for the rehearsals of your ballet. All my best regards" 9. Édouard Bourdet (No date) "very moved by your kind sending." 10. Wladimir d'Ormesson (No date, on OCRT header) "Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I accepted only out of national discipline... pray for me!" 11. Gérard Oury (January 5, 1970) To Guy d'Arcangues. Reflects on the book "Le Silésien". "January 5, 1970 My dear Guy, These few lines only to tell you that I have not yet read ‘Le Silésien’ you sent me at the beginning of December... two turbulent trips and a terrible flu prevented me... I will start it in the coming days and I will call you as soon as I finish it... a thousand happy wishes for the year ahead and to you, very friendlily." 12. Pierre Brisson (No date) "Dear Sir, I will do all I can to attend this Saturday the 20th for this gala performance. But I must leave the next day for the mountains and Saturday evening is usually reserved for the feuilleton — I fear I will have great difficulty freeing myself. My respectful regards to Mrs. d'Arcangues and to you." 13. Marshal Franchet d'Espèrey (No date) "Very warm thanks." 14. André Roussin (January 2, 1981) To Guy d'Arcangues. "January 2, 1981 Dear friend, I do not know if there exists in all poetic literature a case comparable to this strange and admirable pairing of a father and a son. It seems that only twins could be so bound by their sensibility and poetic gift. It seems that through these beautiful poems of your father and yourself a single heart beats and pours out in the trial. The whole is a work of love that is overwhelming and of high quality. Believe me, you have given me a very beautiful Christmas gift. I thank you and tell you my friendship and admiration."
