Delicate Ring with a 0.68 ct Old European Cut Diamond in Rose Gold

As antique jewelry dealers, our love for antique objects leads us to occasionally purchase unmounted gemstones as well, because every historic diamond is a one-of-a-kind piece with its own unique character. However, the search for beautiful settings for our diamonds proved more difficult than we had anticipated. Modern mass-produced settings, such as those available in stores, are often soulless, machine-made products lacking any sense of form and proportion. Yet beautiful antique settings rarely come to us without matching diamonds. So we commissioned our goldsmith to craft a ring setting based on our design, which we then had cast using traditional techniques. We had this ring crafted from high-karat rose gold, using historical gold for this purpose. The diamond in the ring features a historic old-cut shape. It weighs 0.68 ct and sparkles with a rare white luster (G). The diamond features crystalline inclusions beneath the table that take the form of small ice flowers, just like those that form on windowpanes on a cold winter morning. Under the microscope, the fascinating structures hidden within the diamond reveal themselves to the eye. It almost seems as if a tiny diamond of its own has grown inside the diamond: one might say the gemstone has its own little heart. Two smaller diamonds in delicate milgrains adorn the ring shoulders, lending the piece a light elegance that beautifully showcases the large diamond. At the same time, the piece of jewellery sparkles with every ray of light that hits its finely crafted surfaces.
