Decorative ornament - Italy - Copper display plate

Large heraldic parade plate in copper - Visconti Milano coat of arms - 43 cm Large decorative parade/ceremonial plate made from repoussé copper sheet. In the center it features the heraldic coat of arms of the Visconti family of Milan, depicting the traditional crowned Biscione with a child, surmounted by a ducal crown and flanked by lateral figures (lieutenants). At the bottom there is a cartouche with a motto. The object shows evident residues of an original superficial silvering (galvanic type), now worn by time and wear. This creates a distinctive two-tone visual effect, with the underlying copper showing especially on the reliefs. The back presents the typical granular finish deriving from the metal deposition processes of the era. On the back of the plate there is an inscription bearing the name "SALVI GIANCARLO". This wording is provided solely for inventory purposes and its contemporaneity with the object is not guaranteed, as there are no biographies or official online references to identify the author. The authorship of the inscription and the exact dating of the artifact therefore remain at the buyer's discretion. Dimensions / Weight: • Diameter: 43 cm • Weight: 1,200 grams Conditions: Overall in good general cosmetic condition, with normal wear to the silvering consistent with age. A structural defect is noted: when viewed against the light, there are small micro-fissures along the inner edge of the rim, caused by the natural tension the copper underwent during processing, visible only in oblique light.
