Decorative ornament - Italy - Ceiling board

The painted wooden board, visible in the selected region, is an antique decorative panel divided into two adjacent sections and fixed to a rough stone wall with dark metal brackets. Here is a detailed description of its main elements: Structure and Materials • Main panel: This is a rectangular solid wood board, showing evident signs of age and wear, with irregular edges and natural grain visible especially on the outer unpainted sides. • Support: The structure is anchored to the underlying masonry by two sturdy dark wrought iron L-brackets positioned at the bottom. Decoration and Style • Ornamental motif: Each of the two sections features a rich symmetrical pictorial decoration with scrollwork and floral motifs (acanthus tendrils), reminiscent of Baroque style or traditional rural folk art. At the center of each composition stands a small stylized flower. • Color palette: The colors used are warm and earth-toned, in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment. Dominant are ochre, golden brown, cream white for highlights, and burgundy/dark brown for the perimeter frames that delineate the painted scenes. • Condition: The painted surface displays a matte, vintage texture, with widespread flaking, scratches and color gaps that emphasize the object's ancient and rustic character.
