Decorative bell (5) - Thailand - Buddhist Rituals

A varied and thematic collection of five different ritual bells and temple bells from Buddhist and Asian traditions. The set includes bells each with its own unique symbolism, design, and timbre: Bell 1 (Largest bell, left): A large, heavy desk- or school bell in Buddhist style, finished with a black patinated/varnished exterior featuring subtle floral decorations and an elegantly turned wooden handle with a brass top. Bell 2 (Second from left): A rustic iron- or bronze-colored hand bell with an openworked handle depicting two birds/figures in a circle. Bell 3 (Center): A traditional Thai temple bell (Krading), richly decorated in relief with depictions of praying Buddhist figures (Devas) and traditional leaf motifs. On top, equipped with a hanging eye formed by stylized mythological beings (Nagas). • Bell 4 & 5 (Right): Two classic ritual hand bells. Both handles are shaped as a half Vajra (lightning bolt/diamond), representing the masculine principle (compassion and action), while the bell body symbolizes the feminine principle (wisdom). The smallest bell features an edge inscribed with Tibetan mantra characters. All bells are fitted with their original functional clappers (as seen in the underside photo) and each produces its own clear, tinkling sound. 6. Condition: In good, used condition with a beautiful patina built up over time. The largest bell shows decorative wear and small loss areas in the black lacquer, which adds to its well-traveled character. No cracks or structural defects; all bells ring clearly and brightly. 7. The lot will be packed very carefully and sent by registered mail with insurance and track & trace. Pickup is also possible by arrangement.
