David Sims - Kate Moss — Calvin Klein, 1993

An iconic image of Kate Moss, photographed by David Sims for Calvin Klein in 1993, at the very beginning of her international rise. This photograph belongs to the aesthetic that defined 1990s fashion: a direct, stripped-down, sensual image, immediately identifiable. The displayed print is a true vintage production print. The verso bears the stamp of David Sims as well as the notes “Single production only” and “To be returned,” with the handwritten annotations “Kate Moss,” “Calvin Klein,” “93” and several file references. Silver gelatin print on photographic paper. Sheet: 22 × 27 cm. Very, very good condition. No stains; a slight yellow patina appears only along the edges of the paper, without altering the image. A particularly powerful photograph of Kate Moss, David Sims, and Calvin Klein, at the heart of the 1990s aesthetic.
