Special Series Crypto Rock - Reconstituting a photo using photos of the represented artist. Artist Photographer – Creator of contemporary images Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in the urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collector dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubled, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection. New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth treatment is applied to colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created originally and independently. Edition & Production Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated back mount. Printing on luminescent white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering. Career Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also a designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
