David Law (1967) - Crypto Pink Floyd II

Crypto Rock Series - Reconstituting a photograph using photos of the represented artist. Artist Photographer – Creator of contemporary images Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection. The Crypto series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of photos of the artist or of the subject’s theme. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it unveils a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the represented subject. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and command of graphic tools. A thorough job is done on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner. Edition & Production Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 Artist’s Proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV- and humidity-resistant flexible lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering. Career Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photobook, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
