Daum - Philippe Starck - Vase - Cocoon vase - Glass - Very Small Strangeness

Philippe Starck for Daum – "La Toute Petite Étrangeté" Vase (1988) An iconic collectible of matte blue crystal glass, designed by the French designer Philippe Starck for the crystal house Daum France. Description This sculptural vase, titled "La Toute Petite Étrangeté" (The Very Little Strangeness), is a masterwork of postmodern design from the late 20th century (1988). The piece challenges the traditional definition of a vase with its organic, bean- or cocoon-like form. Made from high‑quality pâte de verre (glass paste) / crystal glass with a refined, matte finish in a deep, vibrant cobalt blue shade. Depending on the light, the object takes on a strikingly mysterious glow. This piece sits perfectly on the boundary between functional design and autonomous glass art.
