D'après Emile Louis Picault (1833-1915) - Sculpture

Magnificent and large ancient bronze sculpture representing a gladiator warrior, signed Émile-Louis Picault. Early 1900s. This gladiator warrior by Émile Picault depicts a gladiator standing, barefoot, holding a chained mace. Made in cast bronze, the chasing work is remarkable, notably in the definition of the torso muscles, facial hair, veins of the hands and arms, creating an impression of fluid movement. Signed on the base “E. Picault.” A piece highly sought after by collectors. An exceptional and remarkable visual craftsmanship and a striking beauty.
