Cupboard - Oak - Antique oak cabinet

Beautiful antique cabinet from 1784, a unique piece with a rich history. This cabinet is 1.79 meters wide, 66 cm deep, and 2.01 meters high including the cornice. The cabinet is demountable, which facilitates transport and placement. Ideal for antique and historical furniture enthusiasts who are looking for a particularly striking piece. This is an antique, solid oak cupboard (or wardrobe/linen cabinet) in the Louis Seize (Louis XVI) or early Biedermeier style. This specific specimen is unique because it is dated exactly. Between the two doors, in the woodcarving, the inscription "ANNO 1784" is engraved, meaning that this cabinet dates from the late 18th century. The cabinet has several characteristic features: • Style features: The clean, symmetrical design with the fluted (grooved) center stile and the distinctive, stepwise raised cornice is typical of the transitional period from Baroque to Classicism / Louis Seize in Northern Europe (often German or Dutch/Flemish craftsmanship). • Construction: This type of cabinet is handmade and traditionally fully demountable. They were often assembled with a wooden spline system (wooden pegs) so that the heavy oak components were easy to transport. • Function: Originally, a piece of furniture like this was used as a linen cabinet or wardrobe. Today, in modern interiors, they are also frequently used as a china cabinet or atmospheric storage cabinet in the living room.
