Impressive traditional Frisian Keeftkast. These cabinets were made as showpieces, to project social status. Very richly executed. And typical for Friesland. These cabinets were a statement. This is a fixed and iconic furniture type for this region. From the cap - with that distinctive profiling - it is called a 'kwispeldoor' cap because when you mirror this profile, the shape of a kwispeldoor is created. The heavy half-columns also belong to this style, with those deep flutings. See detail photos. Heavy and articulated base above the ball feet. Very architectural, like a classically designed building. Complete with Greek columns and (always) Corinthian capitals. Original lock with a working key. Surprisingly, the interior is also always seen with this type of cabinet, featuring the two ajour-cut doors. Beautiful panels on the sides. The back has oak panels dating from a later date. Very neatly done. I only ship to EU countries. Buyers from other countries must arrange their own transport. You will receive the order details from me.
