Corneille (1922-2010) - Les yeux bleux

This colorful and expressive artwork by the famous artist Corneille (1922–2010), co-founder of the influential CoBrA movement, is a beautiful example of his imaginative and recognizable visual language. Along with, among others, Karel Appel and Constant, he was part of the experimental artists after World War II who sought a free and spontaneous way of making art. Corneille drew inspiration from, among other things, children's drawings, nature, people, and his numerous travels. Later, he developed a highly recognizable, colorful visual language in which women, birds, and celestial bodies frequently appear.
