Computer History – Collection of historic microchips, [c.1954–c.1986]. An archive of historic microchips, microprocessors and transistors, framed for exhibition. Assembled by Serge Roubé, the present collection charts the evolution of semiconductor technology through seven framed displays: 1. “The Intel 4004: The First Microprocessor” 2. “The Junction Transistor: Western Electric 1858 Transistor” 3. “Commodore 5719 Wafer: The Amiga Gary Chip” 4. “The First Planar Transistor: The Fairchild 2N1613” 5. “The Rockwell PPS-4: The Original Pinball Wizard” 6. “The Silicon Wafer: The Making of a Chip” including samples of silicon and examples of their applications 7. Twelve RAM chips increasing from a 1-bit Flip-Flop (ECL Technology Motorola 358) to a 1M-bit DRAM (CMOS Technology Samsung 1000). Approx. 30 items framed in seven displays (between 267 × 222mm and 457 × 356mm), with printed captions and images.
